After the apparent success of Marvel and Netflix's "Daredevil," Matt Murdock will finally meet his match.

Marvel and Netflix recently announced that the actor who will play the character Elektra Natchioshas been casted. CBS San Francisco reports that Elodie Yung, known for her character Jinx in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" will step into the boots of Elektra in the upcoming season of "Daredevil."

Elektra is the second character announced by the Netflix and Marvel collaboration. The other TV series to be produced by Netflix is "The Punisher," wherein "The Walking Dead" alum Jon Bernthal will play the infamous Frank Castle.

Yung has every right to be casted as Elektra: off-screen, the French-Cambodian actress has a black belt in karate, which Marvel exec Jeph Loeb explains as an actress that perfectly embodies the character's deadly physicality and her psychological complexity which she has revealed during G.I. Joe, New York Daily News reports.

"Daredevil" was a surprising success that was born out of a collaboration between Marvel and Netflix; the original "Daredevil" movie in 2003, which starred Ben Affleck as the titular character and Jennifer Garner as Elektra, though widely received, was not that much of a success in the box office, even receiving mixed reviews from Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes. However, the Netflix reboot gave Matt Murdock a sense of character development, something the original lacked.

Though Elodie Yung's character did not appear on the first season, Entertainment Weekly reports that she was previously mentioned by Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock as a certain Greek girl where things did not work out.

The arrival of Elektra in the well-received series speaks a lot about the success of Marvel in both the small and big screen. The character is a standalone character in the Marvel universe, and as the Marvel family grows larger, the possibility of the characters on TV and in the movies coming together is getting bigger and bigger.
