May Reilly Parker or Aunt May, as affectionately called by comic book fans, has been a mainstay and the source of parental strength for Peter Parker in his superhero career as Spider-Man. Just like Peter's uncle Ben Parker, Aunt May is always there for him whenever he is troubled by something or by someone.

THR futher revealed that the news about Tomei's accepting the role of Aunt May has met with mix reactions to several netizens and comic book producers. Some were excited about it, while others are met with disbelief thinking that her appearance is "too young" to be considered for the middle-aged character.

The website noted that Tomei is by far the youngest actress to play the role fo Aunt May at 52-years-old. Rosemarry Harris was 75-years-old when she played Aunt May in "The Amazing Spider-Man" movie, while Sally Field was 66-years-old during the Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" trilogy.

Still her resume of movie roles such as "The Wrestler," "Crazy, Stupd, Love," "Inescapabe" and among others could be the deciding factor if she can pull off Aunt May in the "Spider-Man" film in the MCU.

Screenrant reportedly claimed that Tomei's Aunt May could be introduced early in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the events of "Captain America: Civil War," as it was previously reported that the shot sequences for Tom Holland's Spider-Man are currently in the works for the movie.

CBS News further adds that fans will expect to see Aunt May fully in the new "Spidey" movie when its released on July 2017.

In other news, a new villain will be introduced in the new "Spidey" film as Day Herald reportedly claimed that Kraven the Hunter is likely the candidate to mess around with Peter.

However, FirstPost.com reported that Marvel President Kevin Feige claimed that a new "original" villain will star opposite Holland's character, and unlike most of Spidey's bad guys, this one is not yet introduced in the Spider-Man or any Marvel comic book storylines.

Moviepilot also hinted that aside from the new original character, there are also other villains who are not yet made the big screen debut such as Carnage, Mysterio, Vulture, Hobgoblin, Scorpion and Shocker.

The new "Spider-Man" movie will be released in cinemas on July 28, 2017.
