It's blockbuster Friday at Wimbledon as Roger Federer faces UK pride Andy Murray for a place in the finals of the oldest tournament in the world. Federer only needed an hour and a half to edge France's Giles Simon in straight sets while Murray ended the run of Canadian hopeful Vasek Pospisil to score a slot in the semis.

Both players will meet for the 24th time with Federer leading the head-to-head with 12-11. Their last Wimbledon encounter was in the 2012 Finals which went to the Swiss, but Murray got his revenge almost a month later at the Olympic games which was also held at the All England Club.

"We both like to look back at that summer," Federer said as reported by Fox Sports. "Me, not so much at the Olympics; him, probably not so much at Wimbledon."

Their succeeding matches came on hardcourts with Federer winning most of them. It will be a challenge for the Swiss, however, as he faces a much improved Murray whose game is currently molded by two legends - former no. 1 Amelie Mauresmo and doubles grand slam champion Jonas Bjorkman.

Yet, Federer still has it in him to win. Since entering the Halle Open last month, the world no. 2 has only dropped his serve once and has had comfortable wins so far heading into the final four. If there's one deterrent, it would be the pressure that comes with winning grand slam no. 18 as he heads into the sunset years of his tennis career.

The younger Murray, meanwhile, is the Centre Court crowd favorite. The pressure is on, playing in front of the hometown crowd, but he knows Wimbledon all too well being a former champion and also a one-time finalist.

"I have loved playing here over the years," Murray told BBC. "I have always played some of my best tennis here. I hope I can get to another final but it will be a tough one."

Indeed, it's never easy to face Federer, a seven-time Wimbledon champion and a living legend. But Murray knows his game, and with an entire nation behind him, he may again find himself on the final day of the fortnight.

Murray said: "Friday is a different story and hopefully we can have a great match."
