NBA rookie of the year Andrew Wiggins is relieved that he would not have to shoulder such a heavy load next season with the inclusion of fellow No. 1 overall draft pick Karl-Anthony Towns.

The 6-foot-8,199 pound Wiggins, who averaged 16.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in 36.2 minutes per game last season, is excited to see the team get additional firepower.

He's also thrilled of their chances in having a breakthrough season in 2015-16.

Wiggins is particularly impressed with Towns' solid all-around game while watching the Summer League games in Las Vegas.

The 6-foot-11, 250 pounds Towns showed passing ability, solid rebounding, and explosiveness around the rim.

He described Towns as a do-it-all tallent who is a playmaker, scorer and rebounder.

Wiggins will also be playing with future hall-of-famer Kevin Garnett, who signed up for two more seasons.

Coach Flip Saunders believes Garnett can have a huge impact playing 20 minutes a game defending opposing centers.

Garnett is also expected to provide veteran wisdom to a young Timberwolves core, which is building around Towns, Wiggins and Shabazz Muhammad.

Saunders noted that Garnett knows his system very well and can relay that to the other players that includes guard Ricky Rubio, Zach Lavine and Tyus Jones.

The Timberwolves also signed Euroleague Most Valuable Player Nemanja Bjelica of Serbia.

The 6-10 Bjelica had 11.5 points and 8.2 rebounds averages in 63 games for Fenerbahce Ulker in both the Euroleague and in the Turkish Basketball League (TBL).

Bjelica was acquired in a trade with the Washington Wizards in a 2010 draft-day trade, where he was selected 35th overall pick.

The 27-year-old forward had a field goal average of 54.1% and shot 37.4% from three-point range.

Bjelica won silver medals with the Serbian National Team at both the 2014 World Championship and 2009 European Championship.

In last Saturday's trade, the Timberwolves acquired Damjan Rudez from the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Chase Budinger.

The 29-year-old Rudez shot 40.6 percent from 3-point range in his rookie season in 2014-15 while averaging 4.8 points and 15.4 minutes.

The 6-foot-10, 200 pound Croatian is expected to boost the team's long distance shooting, which was among the league's worst last season.
