Team coach Mike Krzyzewski sees a short eight-man rotation with four players not seeing as much action going into the FIBA World Cup in Spain.

With John Wall, Bradley Beal and Paul Millsap cut from the team and the untimely departure of injured Paul George, the remaining 16 finalists vying for the 12-man roster to represent the country will resume practice on Aug. 13 in Chicago.

In a news release, Krzyzewski said the 16 guys remaining have a real chance of making the team.

"It's just a matter of finding what chemistry that we can develop with the entire group," Krzyzewski said.

U.S. basketball officials have until Aug. 23 to decide whether to bring all 16 players to Spain and decide later on the final 12-man lineup that will be submitted to FIBA on the eve of the tournament's opening day on Aug. 30.

Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, James Harden, Steph Curry and Anthony Davis are considered shoo-ins to the team.

The most likely position that needs to be filled for a short eight-man rotation would be in the forward and center positions.

Curry and Rose are both point guards while Harden is a shooting guard. Durant is a small forward while Davis plays power forward but can also play at center.

Centers DeMarcus Cousins and Andre Drummond are most likely to be considered in addition to the team.

Power forwards Kenneth Faried and Mason Plumlee are also up for debate while small forwards Chandler Parsons, Gordon Hayward and Kyle Korver complete the package as both Hayward and Korver can also play shooting guards.

That leaves point guards Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard and shooting guards DeMar DeRozan and Klay Thompson hanging in the air and might not make the final cut.
