NBA Star Lebron James showcased a different side of his tough athlete image in the romantic comedy film "Trainwreck." But James is not the first athlete to take on Hollywood.

King James plays the supporting role to lead stars Amy Schumer and Bill Hader. The Cavs star is Hader's best friend and confidant. Schumer, who wrote the script of "Trainwreck," describes it as somewhat similar to certain circumstances in her own life.

In an interview with MTV News, Schumer explained just how she chose James for the role out of so many other NBA stars, "I just wrote him in the script because he's the only basketball player that I've ever heard of and it's a good thing that he said yes. I don't know who would have done it."

James role may be quite far from the real him. In the movie, he portrays a "touchy-feely, penny-pinching, often oblivious-to-his-own-amazingness version of himself," Fantasy reported. The news site also added that the NBA star's role is "hilarious."

But Lebron is not the first athlete to show off some acting skills in the big screen.

Lakers' star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also made fans laugh out loud in his role in the comedy movie "Airplane" where he played the role of a co-pilot named Roger Murdock.

Boxing Champ "Iron" Mike Tyson's character in the movie "Hangover" also left boxing fans surprised at the totally different side of the rough and rowdy boxer.

Who can forget the cop comedy movie "The Naked Gun" where quarterback O. J. Simpson gave a hilarious performance?

James made an appearance at the ESPY Awards recently, and TMZ caught with him at the awards after-party where reporters asked him about "Trainwreck" and how he played his role. The Cavs star said the movie was "unbelievable" but quipped that "I'm not that good in it."
