Dog The Bounty Hunter Sued - Dog the bounty hunter is being sued $30 million by Hawaii-based bondsman Charles Fisher.

Fisher had Beth and Dog the bounty hunter sued, accusing them of fabricating his story on an episode in Dog's TV show "Dog and Beth: On The Hunt" therefore causing his reputation in the bounty hunting industry to be tarnished forever, according to Perez Hilton.

Fisher had Dog the Bounty Hunter sued after Dog allegedly made up a phone conversation that would make it appear he ripped off his insurance company, got $20,000 in collateral, and used a connection within a local jail to keep his business going, according to TMZ.

In addition, Fisher had Dog the bounty hunter sued, claiming that the only way to bring back his business is if Dog pays his debt of $30,000,000.

To truly understand why Charles had Dog the bounty hunter sued, it is vital to know the history behind the $30M lawsuit, which goes way back to when Dog himself was a criminal.

Also known as Duane Chapman as a teen, Dog reportedly had multiple run-ins with authorities, including a robbery arrest. It was the murder and death of drug dealer Jerry Lee Oliver that turned Chapman's life for good.

Once, a 23-year-old Chapman had been in a car in Texas. He was outside a house waiting for a friend who had come there to buy marijuana. Unfortunately, that friend got into an argument with Oliver, later shooting him. Chapman did not shoot the drug dealer himself, but all the people in the group was charged with murder.

"It's something that follows you the rest of your life, no matter who you become or who you are," Dog told the Associated Press. "I'm not proud of it. In Texas in the '70s, if you were present, you were just as guilty. I shouldn't have went and I shouldn't have been the person I was back then."

Though Duane Chapman was sentenced to five years in prison, he got out after less than two years due to parole. He reformed his life and has since then become Dog the Bounty Hunter making a living working with the authorities, according to The Inquisitr.

Despite his TV show having gained popularity, the murder conviction has caused him difficulties entering foreign countries. Perhaps what caused him most concern was when his livelihood was threatened with Hawaii's Senate Bill 2776. Several new requirements to be registered a bounty hunter were introduced

According to BountyHunterEdu.org, the requirements are as follows:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must pass a state licensing exam
  • Cannot have any felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude
  • Must submit fingerprints for a background check
  • Must complete continuing education requirements

Dog the Bounty Hunter would be put out of business with the third requirement. Dog saw the new requirement as biased to the other bail bonds agencies, saying it was politically motivated.

What is Charles Fisher's involvement in all of this?

There are less than 10 bail bonds agencies in Hawaii, and Fisher is owner to one of them. Fisher is a strict competitor to Dog and he supports the new bill with the new requirements which puts Dog at risk of losing business.

"There are parts of [the] bill that deserve attention. People should be trained and licensed in this. I have a gardener who works in my yard and he has to have a license to plant a flower," Fisher said.

Because of this statement and political conflict, Dog portrayed Fisher as a "corrupt bondsman" on his show. Fisher then had Dog the Bounty Hunter sued as a response and the two bounty hunters are set to settle their reputations in court,  with $30 million hanging in the balance.

This is reportedly not the first time Dog the Bounty Hunter and wife Beth has been featured in headlines. In 2012, Dog faced ridicule after getting beaten up by a convicted felon who he hunted for three weeks. In 2013, Beth, 53, got into an alleged verbal assault with a girl while on vacation with family in Colorado. She was able to avoid all charges, reported The Daily Mail.
