The Los Angeles Lakers aren't done in tinkering their roster for next season, as reports indicated the team is interested in acquiring free-agent power forward Kevin Seraphin. They also made a strong push towards getting Ty Lawson from the Denver Nuggets before the playmaker eventually ended up with the Houston Rockets

  • Seraphin, who averaged 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15 minutes per game last season, is drawing interest from at least four teams (The Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers), according to Bleacher Report.

The 6-foot-10 French banger is hoping to find a team where he can play significant minutes and show his true abilities after spending most of his career on the Washing Wizards bench.

The Lakers acquired a legit center Roy Hibbert in a trade with the Indiana Pacers, but don't have a solid backup at that spot. While Tarik Black and Robert Upshaw are expected to compete for minutes, Seraphin would be a hands-down favorite to lock in a reserve role with the purple-and-gold.

  • According to ESPN NBA insider Marc Stein, the Lakers were determined bidder for Lawson before the Rockets rolled the dice on him. Lawson averaged at least 15 points and 9 dimes last season with the Nuggets, but became dispensable as the team looks to move forward with a young roster.

The Lakers' interest in Lawson reportedly stemmed from D'Angelo Russell's sub-par Summer League campaign, where the rookie just shot 36 percent from the field and 15 percent from beyond the arc with at least 5 turnovers per game. Unfortunately, they did not just have the asset to woe the Nuggets into sending Lawson to Hollywood.

Meanwhile, Paul Pierce spoke out for the first time since signing with the Los Angeles Clippers. In an interview with Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Pierce admitted he re-united with his former Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers for a shot at winning another title.

When asked why he picked the Clippers over the Lakers, the All-Star swingman stated the scars caused by the rivalry he had with the Lakers during his time with the Celtics might just be too deep for him to wear purple-and-gold.

"It's a dream come true to be able to come home, finally," Pierce said. "I grew up a Laker fan but playing on all the Boston Celtic teams . . . there's no way I could go there - so this was the next best choice. And it's always been a dream to play in front of my family and friends."
