Following confirmed reports of pop star Taylor Swift's November Shanghai tour, fake Taylor Swift-branded apparel and other souvenirs have started to quickly make their way to the Chinese market.

Unauthorized online shopping sites are selling counterfeit clothes, fake perfume, and even replica guitars that appear to have the star's autograph in an attempt to ride on Swift's exploding popularity among Chinese fans and make money, China Real Time reported.

In an attempt to rid the Chinese market of exploitative peddlers and help consumers purchase authentic products, Swift is launching an exclusively branded clothing line especially designed for the Chinese market.

"[Swift's] strategy is to use her star status to get them to stop selling products that don't have rights to use her name," explained Heritage66 Company in a report by The Wall Street Journal. Heritage66 is the singer's branding company that is also responsible for her China tour.

Swift is partnering with two giant e-commerce groups JD.com Inc. and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.

According to the business news site, as early as August Taylor Swift-branded T-shirts at $60 will be available at JD.com and Alibaba's Tmall marketplace site.

The following month in September, Heritage66 chief operating officer Kate Liegey confirmed that Swift will "launch a women's collection exclusively on JD.com, with clothing priced from $100 to $120. All products will have antipiracy hanging tags that enable customers to track their authenticity on the Web," she told the news site.

Swift is not the first American brand to push against rampant selling of counterfeit products in the Chinese market.

Meanwhile, Swift and rapper Nikki Minaj made a few headlines after a heated Twitter exchange over the MTV Video Music Awards nominations where the young singer was named, People reported.

In a tweet, Minaj wrote, "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year."

Many thought Minaj was referring to Swift. To this, the pop star replied in a tweet, "I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot."
