Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar honored late comedian Robin Williams on the actor's birthday Tuesday through a black-and-white photo she posted on Instagram with a touching birthday message. Williams would have been 64 years old.

The 38-year-old actress stared with Williams in the TV sitcom "The Crazy Ones" where she played his daughter.

Gellar wrote on her Instagram, "Smile, though your heart is aching. Smile, even though it's breaking. Happy Birthday RW #RobinWilliams #HappyBirthdayRobin."

The photo showed the two in wide smiles while hugging each other affectionately just like a father and daughter.

Gellar's post was greeted very positively by fans who shared their own emotional messages to the comedic icon, Ace Showbiz reported.

Williams's death shocked the world after he was found dead in an apparent suicide in his home in August last year. The comedian is best remembered for his movies "Mrs. Doubtfire" and the voice of Genie in the animated movie "Alladin."

To remember William's greatest works that left the world laughing, Entertainment Weekly shared commemorative a video for the actor.

In another Instagram post, Williams's 25-year-old daughter Zelda bid goodbye to her social media followers at least for the days leading to her father's birthday, The Daily Mail reported.

The report said that Zelda is taking a hiatus to escape possible unsolicited opinions and sentiments of the public over her father's death at such an emotional time as his birthday.

She wrote on her Instagram, "I will be taking a break from social media in the coming weeks... In my absence, I understand there will be those who wish to leave messages regarding Dad on my board, but please attempt to be respectful and kind to one another in the process, both because I will not be here to delete or mediate trolling, and because kindness is in short supply these days."
