One Direction Breaking Up - Rumors are growing of One Direction breaking up, and this time it's not simply due to the members' own words, but of producer Simon Cowell.

The planned one year hiatus could possibly become permanent since Cowell told The Sun in an interview that Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan might need some "time apart."

"In terms of a band, they've got enough hits now they can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do," said Simon. "Then I hope they'll have a little bit of time apart and want to get back together again."

Rumors of One Direction breaking up has taken place since several months back, when Zayn Malik decided to leave the band and pursue a solo career. It appears the gossip is more likely as it was confirmed that Louis Tomlinson is about to become a dad. Last week, reports emerged that Tomlinson is expecting a child with 23-year-old gal pal Briana Jungwirth, and that he was moving to Los Angeles to be near Jungwirth.

As it was, many fans feared that One Direction will be breaking up especially since Tomlinson is in LA instead of being with the band on tour. However, Simon Cowell said that he believes the pregnancy isn't a big deal for the future of the band.

"I said to him, 'You man up. You're fortunate because you're in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that'," said Simon, 53.

He added that he told Louis that while he himself received "a lot of bad calls" in life, having a baby wasn't one of them. He also told the 23-year-old band member that he will always be there to support him.

"He didn't kill anyone. He got someone pregnant," said Simon. "It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it's a plus, not a negative."

As for Tomlinson, he recently broke his silence on Twitter to thank his fans for support. The Twitter outburst Wednesday came seven days following the news of his fatherhood. On the same day, Harry Styles joined Louis, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne in Chicago to go on with their "On The Road Again" tour, reported The Daily Mail.

"Every single day we are thankful for the platform that you incredible people gave us. What an amazing 5 years it's been !! You have been by far the most incredible fanbase and nothing you do goes unnoticed. We are so lucky to have you guys ! Thanks so much :)," said Louis in one of his tweets.

"Defo does get emotional watching all these videos you guys have made for the 5 years ! You guys are too good to us :)," he said in another tweet.

The rumors of One Direction breaking up were fuelled when a source told People magazine in June that while the group would not officially break up, the members do want to take some time off to pursue solo careers "just like the [Rolling] Stones."

The June reports also indicated that ID agreed to take the next year off after promoting their fifth album. However, a rep has told Billboard that plans of having a break are untrue.

Cowell said that while singing in the band has been fun for all members, it is still up to the members to decide if they want to work together again, according to Christian Today.

The rumors of One Direction breaking up came just as the band celebrated their fifth year anniversary. 1D became a band after the members applied as solo artists on "The X Factor."

While it was claimed that Louis called for a "crisis meeting" with other 1D members upon learning of his fatherhood, he reportedly reassured bandmates Liam, Harry, and Niall that he is still committed to continue working with the group.

"He assured them he wasn't going anywhere and he's totally committed to 1D," according to an unnamed family member.

One Direction breaking up has still been unconfirmed. If it indeed does happen, it isn't likely that the break up would be any time soon since they are still working on a new album, set to come out in few month time, according to The Inquisitr.
