After decades of trying their best to fight off the dreaded HIV/AIDS all across Canada, finally, the nation's health workers should be applauded. Their hard work has paid off.

CBC News has reported on this very positive health news. Cr. Chris Beyrer, the president of the International AIDS Society, or IAS, says that totally removing HIV from the systems of the human body has been greatly difficult, so the Canadian health workers have did a feat that has been almost impossible to accomplish.

So what did Canada do? Lots of information drive on how to prevent acquiring HIV was the key to their success. They have also done a great deal on HIV and AIDS therapy. These were proudly announced on the eighth International HIV / AIDS conference, a four day meeting that was held in Vancouver.

Calgary Herald reported on the progress the Canadian nation has made in their fight against one of the most dreaded infections mankind has ever known. The most difficult decades for Canada has been the 80s and the 90s, particularly the early part of the 90s, where more people were indulging in promiscuous acts in a very unsafe manner.

As for the infants born with the HIV infection, the number has surprisingly been reduced to ONE. Yes, the almost impossible has finally been achieved by Canada. That is according to the statistics divulged by the International AIDS Society.

Mothers passing down the horrible experience of having HIV is down to almost nothing. This is a medical marvel and more countries should follow suit.

This wonderful achievement by Canada became a possibility because of their commitment to have prenatal testing for HIV on mothers who have been infected with the virus. This is according to The Star's report.

The IAS also mentioned on the importance of starting medical therapy before the symptoms of AIDS finally appear. Only when proper medical intervention has been done to the HIV victim can a dramatic delay of the AIDS symptoms happen. A boost in the immune system is also quite significant during the early stages of HIV infection. Then, the life of the HIV patient can be lengthened, possibly making HIV a disease that will not be considered as life threatening.
