Five-time Super Bowl winner Charles Haley old rookies at San Francisco 49ers training camp to act like white guys and not get high or hit people.

Haley, an impending Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, said that  he made the statement "for the shock value," regardless of whether it was true or not, according to Yahoo Sports.

He said the players were probably mad at him for the unsolicited advice, adding that they all looked at him crazily after he made his statement.

The 51-year-old Haley revealed that he made the statement to get the attention of the players--whom he described as having an attention span of a 5-year-old--and believes he got his point across by so doing.

However, the Mercury-News noted, fullback Bruce Miller, who is white, had just been charged with misdemeanor vandalism in connection with an argument with his then-fiancee.

Haley was known as a destructive force not only in the field but also in the locker room. The 49ers grew so tired of him that they traded him in 1992 to then-rival Dallas Cowboys.

He had a short reunion with the 49ers before retiring in 1999.

Haley was a six-time finalist for the Hall of Fame before he was elected in January and is heading to Canton for the Aug. 8 Football Hall-of-Fame induction ceremony.

He is the only one in league history to win five Super Bowls--two with the 49ers and three with the  Cowboys.

But Haley will not show off those rings at the induction, according to the 49ers website, in order not to shame the guys on stage that don't have any.

Instead, Haley wants the induction to be a very positive experience that will allow him to help others, said the Monterey Herald.

Haley, who was diagnosed in 2002 as being a bipolar, wants to help raise funds for children and those with mental illness.

Haley has offered counsel to outside linebacker Aldon Smith, who eclipsed his record for most sacks by a 49ers rookie with 14 in 2011. However, Smith missed five games in 2013 while being treated for substance abuse and was suspended nine games last season.
