Despite Singer appearing forthcoming in this "X-Men Apocalypse" update about the photo as simply a visit from Stewart, simply being in the area is quite suspicious for the Professor X actor.

Bryan Singer has mentioned that he was excited to be at the live-reading of "The Big Lebowski," which features "X-Men" actors Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence and was hosted by Jason Reitman for the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. Apparently, Just for Laughs will be featuring a comedy show called the Sir Patrick Stewart Gala, which explains why Patrick Stewart might be in the area.

However, considering Sir Patrick Stewart's potential involvement in "Wolverine 3," this "X-Men Apocalypse" update featuring a photo of Stewart on the "X-Men" set could really be that there would be a sort of tease of cameo set up for Professor X. At the San Diego Comic-Con last month, Hugh Jackman teased that it could feature some scenes from the "Old Man Logan" comic book.

The setting for "X-Men Apocalypse" is 1983, and therefore, Professor X might be involved for some memory Wolverine will have of the future. Anything is possible, as shown in "Days of Future Past." In addition, since "X-Men Apocalypse" could possibly be Bryan Singer's last "X-Men" film, it might be possible that he wanted to direct Stewart as Professor X for one last time.

For now, it might be best to just assume that Professor X might not be appearing in "X-Men Apocalypse."

This update also reported that McAvoy's Professor X will be showing him completely bald, like his character in the comics, according to Cinema Blend.

It has also been reported that Ian McKellen will not be appearing in "Apocalypse," which could mean that other cast members from the original movie's franchise would not be appearing as well.

However, according to Hit Fix, Singer knows exactly what he is doing, and releasing the Instagram photo of Patrick Stewart on the set of "X-Men Apocalypse" will definitely fire up rumors of Professor X's return.

"X-Men Apocalypse" is set for release on May 27, 2016.
