Cecil the lion, a famous lion in Zimbabwe, has become famous now more than ever, but unfortunately because of the big cat's death. According to wildlife officials, a Minnesota dentist named Walter Palmer was the man behind the death of the prized Zimbabwean lion Cecil.

Palmer apparently paid $50,000 to lure Cecil out of the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, shoot him with a bow and arrow, then have him hunted and tracked for more than 40 hours as he lay injured overnight, reported Access Hollywood.

Cecil, a 13-year-old park attraction, has six cubs. The next day, he was found by hunters who finished him off with a rifle. He was later beheaded and skinned, according to The Mirror.

Because of the lion's initial fame and the intensity of his death, immense outrage broke around the world, not just from ordinary people, but from famous figures, according to MSNBC.

On Tuesday, Palmer issued a statement to express regret.

"I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt," Palmer said. "I relied on the expertise of my local professional guides to ensure a legal hunt."

"I deeply regret that my pursuit of an activity I love and practice responsibly and legally resulted in the taking of this lion," he added.

However, most, if not all, have turned the other cheek and are not accepting any apologies from the dentist.

Notable figures are calling for Palmer to be extradited to Zimbabwe and face criminal charges.

"The Talk" host Sharon Osbourne expressed her disdain for Palmer and did not hold back from saying what she wanted to say via Twitter.

"I don't know how anyone could go to this man for dental services after this. He is a killer. Beware!" said Osbourne.

But perhaps most notable is late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel's reaction to the issue.

On his show Tuesday, Jimmy called Palmer's actions "vomitus."

"Is it that difficult for you to get an erection that you need to kill things that are stronger than you? If that's the case, they have a pill for that; it works great," Kimmel said.

Kimmel even had to fight back tears, afterwards pleading viewers to make something "good come out of this disgusting tragedy."

Kimmel asked his audience to go to the website of the Oxford University group who studied Cecil the lion.

Below are reactions of disgust and anger from celebs all over the world, as well as Kimmel's epic takedown.
