Nexus 6 has finally received the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 firmware upgrade, which aims at fixing the recurring issues in the device and also to enhance its performance stability.

With build number LMY47Z, the update was released as an over the air update, Realty Today reported. This implies that different users will receive the update at different times, in a random fashion, according to The Master Herald. OTA is pushed only once in a day, so some devices might need to wait longer than the other devices.

The upgrade was announced for Nexus 6 in April itself, but was rolled out only last week. The firmware will fix the memory leak issue which was present after Android 5 was installed in Nexus 6, The Android Pit reported.

The upgrade is 81 MB in size and it is advised that the users download and install it through a stable Wi-Fi connection. Instability of the data connection might cause severe consequences to the devices as a whole. Hence, it is recommended to the users that they download the update only when they have ample time to do so and there is a stable internet connection as well.

Android Lollipop 5.0 came with a lot of issues, the most alarming being the battery drainage and overheating of the device. The latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware upgrade aims at resolving these issues wholly.

In addition to this, it will also improve the battery life of the device. After this upgrade is installed, the users of Nexus 6 will be able to access the option of Quick Settings from the notification bar itself. It will include the screen brightness, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, auto rotate, airplane mode, location, and screen casting options to toggle with. Many advanced animations will also be added to the device after the upgrade. These animations will make the device more user friendly.

To download this manually, users can go to Settings-> About Device -> System Updates-> Check for Updates.

Once installed, it will reboot and then the users can have a more seamless and user-friendly experience on their devices.
