It's another ATP title for Rafael Nadal, another trophy bite for the no. 1 seed who ended his ecstatic week in Hamburg by capturing the bet-at-home Open. But his 7-5, 7-5 victory over Fabio Fognini wasn't the only highlight; the Spaniard ended up cramping on court while making his speech during the trophy ceremony.

SB Nation published two videos taken from the Twitter account of journalist Andrew Jerell Jones who tweeted Nadal's oncourt ordeal. In the middle of his acceptance speech, Nadal grimaced in pain and said "I am cramping". The Champion then held his right leg and added "It's not a joke" as a trainer ran to his side.  Nadal's response to his post-match discomfort drew laughter from the crowd but ended in rapturous applause.

Notwithstanding the outcome, what transpired before the trophy presentation became an indication of Nadal's progress to be in top physical and mental shape once again.

The 29-year-old was broken early in the first set but managed to break back and clinch it in 77 minutes. The second set put Nadal on the lead at 3-1 until the Italian battled through for a 5-4 set point opportunity. But the 14-time grand slam winner relentlessly fought for every point and after two and a half hours of play, Nadal not only improved his record against Fognini but also shattered every doubt with a triumphant performance.

"I lost the last two times against him, so I knew it was going to be a tough one," Nadal said as reported by the ATP website. "I think I had a great attitude the whole match, very positive, fighting for every ball. I had some tough moments on court, lost opportunities, but every time I came back and I kept fighting with the right mentality. I'm very happy for the victory. It is an important victory for me."

Up next for Nadal is North America where he hopes to bring the confidence he has gained after his win that gave him 500 Emirates ATP Rankings points.

"Now the hard-court season is starting, it's a different story," he said. "But at the same time, I'll keep going with the same mentality and this title helps to be a little bit more calm and add some points to my ranking to try to finish the year in the Top 8 again."
