Say No To Independence, More Than 200 Celebrities Including Mick Jagger, Stephen Hawking, Simon Cowell Sign an Open Letter to Scotland

A plebiscite for independence will be held by the 18th of September this year and it is with regards to Scotland breaking away from the United Kingdom. Because of this, more than 200 celebrities signed an open letter to encourage Scottish Voters to say NO.

A campaign called "Let's Stay Together" has launched the letter and it was organized by Dan Snow and Tom Holland, both historians. The historians pointed out that the people who have signed the letter are valuing the bond of citizenship.

Snow and Holland talked about it on their website saying that they believe that the missing message is a positive and emotional one. They added that the Scottish electorate should not be told what to or what not to do instead they should be informed how the rest of the UK feels about Scotland.

Snow and Holland also pointed out that the people who signed the letter did not have a vote in the said referendum but they wanted to voice out their opinions. They said that the people who are concerned about this are not telling the Scots how they should vote but if they do decide to go and vote, those who signed hopes that they won't.

Notable Britons such as Judi Dench, Helena Bonham Carter, Eddie Izzard, Patrick Stewart, Steve Coogan, Tom Daley, Steve Redgrave, David Attenborough, Stephen Hawking, Simon Cowell, Mick Jagger, Dickie Bird, Tracey Emin, Mary Beard, and many more.

Basically, the letter was signed by 18 athletes who won gold medals, 12 professors, a Nobel prizewinnwe and 44 Bafta winners. Public figures from sports, literature, theatre and arts are supporting this open letter in hopes of making Scotland understand that what unites them is much greater than what divides them. Thus, they are pleading that they should all stay together.
