Aside from being the Duchess of Cambridge and a fashion icon, there are some things that people need to know about Kate Middleton.

According to News Everyday website, the Duchess of Cambridge was able to get her certification as an Advanced Open Water Diver by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. This is to be able to share Prince William's passion in scuba diving.

"Diving is something the Duchess very much enjoys, and the Duke of Cambridge, who is of course president of the BSAC, has said in the past that he is hopeful his children will become interested in the sport," a spokesperson of the royal family said.

In an article by Huffington Post, Prince William took the position of President of the British Sub-Aqua Club in May 2014. This title was previously given to his father Prince Charles. But apart from being a qualified scuba diver, there are still a lot of things to find out about the Duchess of Cambridge. Mirror UK was able to compile a few fun facts about Kate .

1. She used to be part of a church choir. In 2012 at a reception in St. James Palace, the Duchess of Cambridge revealed that she was once part of a choir to violinist Nicola Benedetti. After complimenting the performance, Kate walked up to Nicola to ask if she felt nervous and said that she can relate with how she was feeling because she once played for a choir.

2. She had a thing for a Levi's guy before. In an interview after her engagement to Prince William, Kate was asked if she had a picture of him pinned on her wall as a teenager. Kate said, "I had the Levi's guy, not a picture of William, sorry."

3. She was called "Squeak" during her school days. While visiting her old school in Berkshire, Kate told the kids that she once owned guinea pigs.

"There was one called Pip and one called Squeak, because my sister was called Pippa and I was Squeak," she said.

4. Kate used to live in Jordan when she was a kid. When she was two, her dad brought the family up with him in Amman, Jordan, for work. The family stayed there for two-and-a-half years.

5. The Duchess of Cambridge is a sportswoman. Apart from playing hockey, sailing and tennis, Kate also had a talent for high jumps. She was able to set a record in her school in St. Andrews in Pangbourne, Bershire that still remains undefeated.
