Nikoleta Lozanova is not a household name in tennis but she may soon rule the headlines after rumors surfaced that she hooked up with Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov when he was still dating superstar Maria Sharapova. According to Tennis-X, Dimitrov, ranked no. 16 in the world, had a fling with Lozanova, the Bulgarian playmate of the year and the wife of footballer Valeri Bojinov, during the Championships.

A local news daily in Bulgaria, however, reported that the allegations will end up in a courtroom after Dimitrov sued Lozanova for starting the rumor.

"Grigor is about to sue the playmate for personally launching the rumor that she slept with the Bulgarian tennis star in London during the Wimbledon tournament about a month ago. These rumors are one of the main reasons for the breakup of the 24-year-old with his tennis queen girlfriend Maria Sharapova," said the report as published by Standart News.

Dimitrov's manager Georgi Stoimenov, who is the husband of retired Bulgarian tennis star Katerina Maleeva, has sought the assistant of top lawyers for the trial and confirmed that it was indeed Lozanova who cooked up the rumors for personal gain.

"After his split with Maria Sharapova, Grigor Dimitrov became the hero of the tabloid soap opera, produced by some Bulgarian media," Stoimenov said in a statement. "They publish "sensational news" about his personal life, which are not based on real facts and normal human logic. I am calling for his support, in order to give him confidence and peace at home, instead of turning him into a tabloid protagonist. I will not hesitate to seek liability for false statements, which are distributed."

Dimitrov has yet to release a personal statement on the matter but it seems that it's not affecting the game of the Bulgarian who's currently in Washington DC for the Citi Open. He and Mardy Fish teamed up for the doubles and the duo defeated former Wimbledon champions Jack Sock and Vasek Pospisil 6-7(2), 7-6(5), 10-8 in the first round.

Meanwhile, his first singles match against Argentina's Guido Pella is due Wednesday afternoon. It will mark the first meeting between Dimitrov, who is seeded sixth, and Pella who is currently at No. 100 in the ATP rankings.
