As seen in the trailer above, the video shows a backstory that happened 15 years ago before the events of "Final Fantasy XV's" mains story. It features the "father and son" bound between Noctis and his father, King Regis. As King Regis holds his son, he contemplates on the many steps that he must do regarding that deteriorating relationship between his kingdom of Lucis and the warbound kingdom of Nilfheim.

Gematsu further adds that in order for the two kingdoms to unite for peace, a union of marriage between Noctis and Lady Lunafreya must be done. Sadly, it was all an elaborate trap for Nilfheim for suprise attack at the Kingdom of Lucis. The trailer ends with three towering monsters that are at gates of King Regis' palace.

"Final Fantasy XV" director Hajime Tabata has been able to explain the significants of the backstory, as well as the monsters that present at end of the trailer. Tabata did not delve much on the three monsters as gaming fans speculated that these were Eidolons, a type of summoned monster first featured in "Final Fantasy XIII." Tabata quickly rebuked them by confirming they weren't Eidolons, meaning it could be another monster type, VG 24/7 reported.

Gameinformer reports that Tabata revealed that players will know more about Noctis' background in a series of flashbacks and revealed that girl in the trailer was Luna, Noctis' childhood friend and the dog is not some stray, but some else's pet. Tabata further hinted that relationship between Noctis and his father will be explored deeply as the game's theme is about interpersonal relationships.

Square Enix was also able to reveal a new gameplay trailer during there Active Time Report that showcases Noctic and the gang fighting a new monster, in the form of the Malboro.

Square Enix also teased a new villain that will "top" previous villains like Sephiroth or Kefka and will give out more information soon.
