Serena Williams is predicted to win this year's US Open. With her exceptional grand slam record, the world no. 1 is bound for another historic victory and it seems nothing could stop her - that is until world no. 21 Samantha Stosur spoke of knowing how to defeat the American.

"I've always actually quite enjoyed playing Serena. I've got a game that disrupts her," said Stosur who believes that Williams should not be seen as an indomitable force but as another regular player. "You have to have the game. My game matches up well against Serena. I've got the kind of weapons that can bother her."

Call it overbearing confidence if you're a Williams fan but Stosur has done what most players have failed to do in the past few years and that is beat Williams in a grand slam final, and the entire WTA knows that it's never easy beating Serena when she's at the peak of her performance. Yet, the Australian was able to nail it and won in straight sets to take the US Open title in 2011.

Though it would seem, on paper, that Williams still has the advantage over Stosur having beaten her 8 times in 11 meetings, the reigning Wimbledon champion will undoubtedly feel the pressure as she aims to win all four grand slams in one year, and needless to say, Stosur knows it.

"No doubt she is going to be feeling the pressure, as much as you can when you've won four slams in a row and going for a fifth," Stosur said as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald. "You know she wants to get that calendar slam. She's not immune to the nerves and pressure."

Stosur, however, is not the only threat to Williams in the Open. There's world no. 3 Simona Halep who has beaten her once in the WTA Championships last year and there's also Victoria Azarenka who knows Williams' game all too well and never goes down without a fight.

There are times when one has to rely on injury to slow down a player's formidable engine, but sometimes, it also requires an inner belief that the greatest player of this generation is just another human being capable of losing.

As Stosur would say, "None of us are really sitting around the locker room saying how great Serena is," and that's because no one actually should if they want to defeat her.
