(Photo : Reuters) It seems that the new OnePlus 2 is lacking certain features and so talks about the next OnePlus 3 model are already in progress.

A few weeks ago, OnePlus 2 was launched in markets across the globe. The hyped launch happened through a first of its kind virtual reality event. But, it seems that the new phone is lacking certain features and so talks about the next OnePlus 3 model are already in progress.

OnePlus, the China-based company that achieved a new high of sorts through its innovative yet affordable adaptation of the premium smartphone models in its handsets, has a loyal fan following across the globe. From its modest beginnings in downtown China, the company has grown by leaps and bounds to establish an enviable footprint across the globe. The most recent milestone in this direction being the launch of OnePlus 2, their latest mobile to hit markets in the budget smartphone category. Currently, in production phase, OnePlus 2 is scheduled for shipment starting August 2015; however, the company already seems to be gearing up for the launch of the next model, yet to be officially named OnePlus 3, according to Ecumenical News

Another report on Latin Post goes on quote an interaction of Carl Pei, founder of the OnePlus group, with the popular USA Today magazine where he confirmed that the work on the next OnePlus is already underway. Carl also said that the users should expect the new model to be out in markets by December.

It is said that if the company meets its target of a December release, this will be the second smartphone that they launch this year.

In his interview, Pei said that OnePlus was not about manufacturing cheap smartphones, instead, it was about reaching out to the consumer directly that helps in cutting costs and serving the end user better. Pei also added that if companies like Samsung chucked the advertising and investment on the distributor network, instead focusing the money on reaching out to the end consumer directly, they could also sell their phones at a relatively lower price.

Predicting the future, 25-years-old Pei said that soon his brand would be amongst the top three players in the smartphone category.
