Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's billion-dollar fashion empire "Dualstar Entertainment Group" is under scrutiny for alleged internship malpractices including failure to pay wages.

Shahista Lalani, a design graduate, was a former intern of the twins fashion label "The Row" and filed the lawsuit alleging she was hired as an intern in 2012 but was made to perform duties similar to paid employees for five months, working 50 hours every week without wage, Page Six reported.

Lalani told the news site that her boss overworked her even to point of hospitalization making her perform laborious tasks on a scorching hot day.

"It was like 100 degrees outside. I'd just be sweating to death," she recalled.

In the lawsuit, she claimed that interns worked long hours doing stuff from data encoding, photocopying, sewing, pattern cutting, and even running personal errands for other employees.

"I was doing the work of three interns. I was talking to her [my boss] all day, all night. You're like an employee, except you're not getting paid," she claimed.

The wage theft lawsuit is being filed by Lalani on behalf of 40 other current and past interns who allegedly have suffered the same thing.

In response to the allegations in the lawsuit, Dualstar defended itself in a statement saying there are no grounds for such complaints and that the company will do its part to defend itself, People reported.

"Dualstar is confident that once the true facts of this case are revealed, the lawsuit will be dismissed in its entirety," the statement read.

An anonymous employee of the Olsen Twin's label spoke to Mashable saying no interns have ever been mistreated by the company or have been forced to do work not normally done by the rest of paid staff.

"It's true that they weren't paid but all of them were sent home at 6 p.m. everyday," the source told the news site.
