Williams is currently in Toronto as the number one seed for the Rogers Cup and she is on to the quarterfinals after defeating 16th seed Andrea Petkovic 6-3, 6-2. The American never faced a break point throughout the match and broke her opponent thrice to win in 62 minutes while extending her head-to-head record against the German at 5-0.

"I think I served better than in my first match. It was a big difference," said Williams. "I still think I have a tremendous amount of improvement to do off the ground and everywhere else, though. I just felt off. Just gotta be more positive out there again. I just felt a little negative. So, I'm just going to get back in that positive attitude and go from there."

Her win was highlighted with the presence of rap star Drake who watched Williams score her third round victory from the stands. The two are rumored to be dating and have been spotted having dinners together during the Wimbledon fortnight.

Next up for Williams is Roberta Vinci who booked a place in the quarterfinals after defeating Daria Gavrilova. The winner of the match will either play fifth seed Ana Ivanovic who easily beat Polona Hercog 6-2, 6-3 or rising star Belinda Bencic who's on a roll after toppling Canada's golden girl Eugenie Bouchard in the first round 6-0, 5-7, 6-2, fourth seed Wozniacki in the second round 7-5, 7-5 and the big-serving German Sabine Lisicki 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 (3) for a quarterfinal berth.

"I beat three very good players, who I was watching on TV when I was small. So it's like a dream coming true now, being one of them and beating them and being in the quarterfinals here," Bencic said after her win.

The youngster is currently under the tutelage of Swiss legend Martina Hingis who is playing doubles at the tournament with Mirza.
