Truly wonderful, Disney's plan is. On Saturday, the minds behind the happiest place on Earth announced the universe of "Star Wars" will feature in two huge expansions at Disneyland and Walt Disney resorts. According to CEO Bob Iger, the single-theme development at 14 acres each is the largest that the company has endeavored yet.

The plan for two massive Star Wars-themed attractions was unveiled at the biennial D23 Expo and sent more than 8,000 fans in attendance to a standing ovation. Iger further shared that Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012 did not stop at film rights but inevitably extended to bringing the epic sci-fi franchise "to every corner of the company."

"We are creating a jaw-dropping new world. . . We're bringing Star Wars to life in a big way," Iger stated.

The attractions will allow fans to step into the world of Star Wars, from being in the middle of the battle between the First Order and the Resistance to driving "one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy"--Han Solo's Millennium Falcon.

"Guests will truly become part of a Star Wars story. . . It's going to be a whole new level, a whole new galaxy," Iger assured.

Apart from battle experience, visitors will have the chance to slip into the infamous Chalmun's Cantina (otherwise known as Mos Eisley Cantina) and have a sip or two of the tavern's refreshments served by wild creatures seen in the movies. Fans are definitely in for a treat as they encounter all the droids and beasts that comprise the saga's populace.

Director J.J. Abrams, who is helming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," fondly talked about the big possibilities that the two attractions have to offer. Plans of this massive proportion are expected to offer all Padawans with experiences of a lifetime.

"It's really pushing what you thought was possible in terms of an amusement park experience. . . When you see what they're working on in these parks your mind is going to be blown," Abrams excitedly shared with USA Today.

While there is no definite time frame on when the two Star Wars attractions will open, current visitors will already have a glimpse into the rides that may be offered. According to Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek, certain pre-existing rides will be updated as part of Disney's 2016 Season of the Force event.
