The latest “Fifty Shades Darker” casting rumors indicate that Alexis Bledel may just be the perfect Leila Williams in the film adaptation of the erotic novel. Although the complete cast for the sequel has yet to be announced, fans already started to speculate that the “Gilmore Girls” star has already agreed to be part of the movie.

In the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy by E.L. James, Leila Williams is introduced as Christian Grey's (Jamie Dornan) former submissive, before he met Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson). She drew a wedge in their relationship when she told Anastasia that Christian prefers brunettes for they reminded him of his mother.

This is not the first time that Bledel's name came up in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie casting. According to Fashion & Style, fans of the actress started an online petition, via change.org, in 2013 to cast her as Anastasia Steele. The petition may not be successful as the executives decided to cast Johnson for the role, but it received more than 90,000 signatures from Bledel's supporters.

Back in 2014, Bledel said that she was surprised to find out that her fans have been campaigning for her to join the erotic movie. In an interview with Elle, the 33-year-old actress revealed that she was both flattered and freaked out by all the attention. She shared that she was able to read the first book in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy and got interested to learn more about the BDSM lifestyle.

"I think people react to things for different reasons, and our culture definitely goes through phases. It's interesting to see what becomes popular, because it must be a response to something we're all going through," Bledel told the publication.

"People definitely do have strong opinions about it. I guess when people really identify with a concept, they feel strongly about it," she added.
