Running back Chris Johnson gets yet another opportunity to revive his limping career, agreeing to terms with the Arizona Cardinals for a one year deal worth $2 million.

Johnson was last a member of the New York Jets, where he rushed a career-low 663 yards with a single touchdown, the worst statistics he has ever put up in his career. He also averaged career lows in carries with 155. Chris Johnson originally signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Jets, but they decided to decline Johnson's contract for the 2015 season. This freed them from paying the $3.5 million base salary and $5.2 million cap hit they would have had to pay if they decided to retain him for the next year.

Johnson, who used to have a starting job and 6 straight seasons in which he had 1000-yards, will likely be fighting for a complementary role with the Cardinals.

The running back has had a downward spiraling career as of late. Before his season with the Titans in 2013, he never averaged fewer than 4.0 yards per rush. However, in 2013 he averaged 3.9 yards per rush.

Chris Johnson, who turns 30 by the 3rd week of the NFL season, has also had several run ins with the law. Last offseason he was arrested for openly carrying a weapon in Orlando, Florida, although the police decided not to press charges. In an unrelated incident, Johnson was shot in the shoulder during a drive-by shooting that left another person injured and the driver dead.

The Cardinals have been in sore need of running backs, as regular starter Andre Ellington and third-round pick David Johnson have been out due to hamstring injuries. Both have returned as of late at least for limited practices, but having Chris Johnson as insurance would surely not hurt. The Cardinals hope that Johnson can rejuvenate his career for them for this 2015 season, while Johnson hopes to prove his worth.
