More plot theories have sprung from the first trailer of "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice." One of them concerns a character that's not even there - the Joker.

There are many revisions in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" that are not "faithful" to comic book canon. Thus, fans have to be creative when it comes to deciphering the "easter eggs" that they find in the trailer.

Such creativity was duly exercised to formulate the theory that the forthcoming incarnation of the Joker (presumable introduced in "Suicide Squad") is actually one of Batman's former sidekicks, Jason Todd.

The root of this theory is from Reddit. One version from user "weird sisters" had the concept down pat.

"What if in the history new DC movie universe, the original Joker had captured and broken down Jason Todd, tortured him, painted him with a bunch of stupid 'Jokery' clown, haha, tattoos and even wrote 'Damaged' on his forehead to write down what he had done to the boy."

The conclusion: "This Jason Todd later becomes the Joker, and does the same thing(s) to Harley Quinn. This is the type of thing that unfortunately happens all the time in real life. Bad things happen to people, they grow up and continue the pattern and do those things to other people, themselves."

Movie Pilot adapted a theory pushed forth a day later, from another Reddit user, "Jason-169." Complete with photo "evidence" from the trailer but the concept is essentially the same.

Is this theory plausible? Most of the movie sites don't think so. Cinema Blend has their argument, for one thing, the actors' ages: "For one thing, Jared Leto and Ben Affleck are the same age, so even if one character is slightly older than the other, you can easily imagine them having fought for years. There would be no reason to explain Leto away as a younger Joker." Yes, Leto is actually 43 years old, same as Ben Affleck.

Also, this is not something that would slip from "The World's Greatest Detective." They point out that  "Batman is one of those most intelligent people on the planet, and even if he couldn't figure out that it was Jason, he would know if someone was masquerading as his nemesis."

The theory looks thin, but it actually gained traction farther than most fan theories. Perhaps, they can try again.
