The United States is training and arming a moderate Muslim force that would fight against both ISIS and Assad loyalists in Syria. However, critics are casting doubts on the new groups viability as some of them were captured after a few days in Syria.

CNN interviewed one of the pro-American fighters, who identified himself as Abu Iskander. He said that more than 50 fighters have just completed their training and are already inside Syria using U.S. arms and equipment.

The so-called New Syria Force is part of the American military's strategy to remove ISIS forces from that part of the Middle East. It is estimated that each fighter cost almost $1 million to train and armed.

In the same interview, Iskander revealed that 70 of his comrades have finished their training and will soon join his group. However, the American financed Syrian armed group are too few to pose any real threat to the Islamic State or the Assad regime.

He said thousands of his fellow countrymen are willing to join the new force. However, they need to undergo training. He wished that the American trainers will cut the training period by at least 50 percent to enable more moderate-minded Syrians join.

However, the credibility of the newly formed moderate Syrian force has been put into question after five of them have been caught by Islamic State militants, who control large parts of Syria. Despite the setback. Iskander praised the U.S. training program and hoped that they can put an end to the Islamic militants' hold in his country.

The American military, which provided the training, wants the new Syrian force to combat ISIS forces. But many of the have openly said that they would also like to take the fight to troops loyal to Syrian President Bashir al-Assad.

The U.S. military has assigned some of its Syrian allies to provide ground support and versify targets that its planes will attack and bomb.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Barrack Obama has given the military the power to use every means at its disposal including airstrikes to protect their Syrian allies from attacks by other armed groups.
