The upcoming Robert Redford movie "A Walk in the Woods" is a result of Redford's devotion and admiration of a written memoir by Bill Bryson. This movie is a biography, comedy and adventure that focus on the Appalachian Trail journey of Bryson and his friend.

According to Fandango, it took almost a decade before Redford secured a movie version with the same title. Nick Nolte, Emma Thompson, Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal and Mary Steenburgen also stars in the film.

Redford, during his interview with Cinema Blend, expressed his excitement on the September 2 release of the movie. He stated that even if there were obstacles, his determination to finish the movie was quite strong. Redford personally produced, directed and starred the movie.

The plot is about Bill Bryson's fascination with the Appalachian Trail. Bryson (Robert Redford), a successful travel writer, planned having a journey on the said trail on his return to America, his homeland. The original plan was to hike the entirety of the Appalachian Trail alone, but then he decided to have a companion. Then his friend Stephen Katz, the character Nolte plays accompanies him in this adventure. Katz is the long lost friend of Bryson in the movie. Bryson hasn't heard from Katz in decades. They reconnect while hiking the 2,200 mile trail.

The two grumpy old men's effort in hiking the entire trail was quite scenic and had some meaningful insights on life. Bryson and Katz often discussed about their aging. They reminisced about their peers who have already passed away. The movie is obviously targeted for the older audience who will definitely understand every conversation that Redford and Nolte has.

Cathy (Emma Thompson), Bryson's wife, considers this Appalachian Trail hike quest foolish. In the movie, she appears to be worried and refers to the journey as perilous for Bryson and Katz's age and physical condition.

Early this year, "A Walk in the Woods" received wonderful reviews from critics in the Sundance Festival. Will the American audience also have a warm welcome on Redford's movie?
