Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts admitted he can't say now how their offense is going to look but didn't make it a secret they will to continue to shoot from 3-point range.

This is true even with the loss of five of eight best 3-point shooters from last season, according to Rip City Project.

The  Blazers coach said their offensive end is going to be fluid and a work in progress because they've been one of the leaders in 3-point shooting the last few years.

Stotts said he doesn't want "to just concede" that they're "not going to shoot as many threes."

The Blazers coach added that with Meyers Leonard on the court, they have  a 7-footer who can shoot  3-pointers and still have a presence at the defensive end.

Stott made it clear they are in an experimental stage and that he's looking forward to see how " things come together."

Other than Leonard, Damian Lillard  and C.J. McCollum can be relied on to make 3-pointers, but needs more bodies to step up and play the way Stotts wants.

They also added a decent 3-point shooter in rookie guard Pat Connaughton.

The Blazers are not expected to find out who can shoot without actively exploring their options such as capitalizing on their excess cap room.

They were in fact in the middle of trade talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

The teams eventually backed out of the potential deal.

With Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer  noting that it has something to do with cap space, Sports Illustrated said it is highly likely that the Timberwolves were trying to dump salary.

The Blazers are well below the $56.8M cap floor with only $48.3M while the Timberwolves are above the $70.0M salary cap at $73.6M.

The Blazers have just 12 fully guaranteed contracts while the Timberwolves have 16, which is one more than the maximum allowed during the regular season.

It is not sure what contract the Timberwolves were trying to unload.

Sports Illustrated suggested it might be Nikola Pekovic, who is coming off an injury plagued season.

Of course, the Blazers would not absorb a burdensome deal without getting anything in return.
