Princess Charlotte has been gifted an adorable plaid dress by the Sons of Scotland Pipe Band. The Canadian bagpipe band performed for Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle.

The tartan design was gifted by the band for the little royal during a visit to see her great-grandmother last week, People reported. The pinafore dress (collarless sleeveless dress worn over a blouse or jumper) was designed by one of the members of the band. Bethany Bisaillion, a member of the band told that the dress is in "Maple Leaf" tartan, matching the Scottish theme.

"We hope that she gets it in time that she doesn't grow out of it!" she said speaking to Canada AM

Bisaillion and her band played with Canadian Mass Pipers and Drums in front of Elizabeth, her husband Prince Philip, 94, their daughter-in-law Sophie Wessex, 50, and her daughter Lady Louise, 11 at Balmoral, where the royal family spent their summer.

The piper said that during her conversation with the Queen, she became charged with emotion and had to bite her lips. She added that the senior royal remembered her from her previous visit, though she added that she was a tad bit nervous.

The Sons of Scotland Pipe Band's gift for Charlotte follows a gift for Prince George which they had given him in 2013. The two-year-old was presented with a kilt by the band to remind him of his Scottish connections. The band had also gifted a Maple Leaf fascinator hat for Kate Middleton and a waistcoat for Prince William.

The band played for the first time for the Queen back in 2005. During the performance, there were 95 band members and dancers. However, this time, their group consisted of around 200 members as the band brought along highland dancers from three Canadian dance schools, as well as their family members.

Meanwhile, the little princess is expected to be taken to Scotland by her parents for the first time some time later in the summer. Elizabeth would be housed in Balmoral till early October, where she will carry on with her work. On Sept. 9, she will surpass Queen Victoria's record-breaking reign and has a public engagement on the day.
