The latest season of the hit television series, American Horror Story, called "Hotel" has pop singer Lady Gaga in the front line Creator Ryan Murphy dishes out how the singer requested to join the AHS cast, and it's not as complex as other casting processes ought to be.

With four successful seasons to boot, American Horror Story has become one of primetime television's most anticipated series. Its fifth season, called "Hotel," stars singer Lady Gaga as the Countess and owner of Hotel Cortez, the main setting of the entire season. In a post by Entertainment Weekly, Ryan Murphy revealed how the singer pitched herself in to be a part of the star-studded cast.

"I was at a construction site and my phone rang. I didn't recognize the number. [I answer] and I hear 'Please hold for Gaga.' I think 'Bad Romance' was playing [while I was on hold]," recalls the creator to Entertainment Weekly.

"Then she got on the phone. At first I thought it was a prank, but we then had a lovely call," added Murphy, who conceptualized the fifth season around the 1935 screwball musical comedy film, Top Hat.

Murphy explained that "Hotel" is much darker compared to other seasons, and previously revealed that this season's casting will include several singers. The season will show sinister events of hotels in downtown Los Angeles, including the incident in The Cecil, where the death of 21-year-old student, Elisa Lam, happened. The creator had courageously viewed a surveillance video Lam in The Cecil, where the victim showed unusual behavior just moments before her death.

In the same report by EW, Lady Gaga backs up Murphy's story, saying that she did call the producer to submit herself to join the cast.

"I called him and I said 'Ryan, I wanna be on Horror Story.' And he goes, 'Okay.' And that was it," said Gaga, who is obviously a huge fan of the show.

The singer will play the Countess, a glitzy socialite who is into art openings, fashion shows, and maintains her youthful looks by consuming human blood. The Countess is also described as someone having an insatiable taste for intimacy, and this will be showcased as the season progresses.
