"Game of Thrones" and "A Song of Ice and Fire" fans will surely be excited with the latest updates on George R. R. Martin's "Winds of Winter". The popular author said that he is still working on the sixth installment of his widely read book series.

Latin Post reports that on George R.R. Martin's blog, one of his fans posted a question about Stannis Baratheon, asking if his favorite character is still alive in the book series since in the television series, Stannis has been hacked to death by Brienne of Tarth on the fifth season of "Game of Thrones"

Martin's answer to the question was quite positive for Stannis' fans, indeed, the character is still alive in the book series, and that his avid readers will just have to wait for the book's release to find out how it all happened.

The possibility of another major character who will die in the books series is something that Martin has been contemplating on, says a source from International Business Times. However, the demise of this mysterious character will not happen in the sixth book installment. There will be interesting events that will lead to the death of that character on the seventh book.

When asked if he is concerned with the fact that the "Game of Thrones" show producers are coming up with a new season each year, while his books are being published at a much slower rate, his answer was quite simple. Martin merely said that each book is usually at 1,500 pages and that the script writers of the show only need to produce at least 60 pages for each season of the show.

Furthermore, Martin stated that the TV show producers can choose to make his books as the basis of the "Game of Thrones" TV series. Since his focus was on writing a book that readers would read with excitement, Martin could not commit to telling when the release of "Winds of Winter" will be.
