Fans of the "Last Of Us" are eagerly waiting for the movie adaptation of Naughty Dog's popular video game. Although the cast has yet to be confirmed, many speculated that the "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams will be perfect for the role.

According to Screenrant, producer Sam Raimi and writer Neil Druckmann had met with Williams to discuss the part of Ellie. The actress confirmed that there had been negotiations about the role, however, she said that she is still waiting for an official offer in the producers' end.

Since it has been announced in Comic-Con that a "Last of Us" movie has been given the green light, some fans cannot help but wonder what is causing the delay. Some perceived that the problem was in the casting, while others claim that it had something to do with plot development.

"I had a lunch a little while ago and we spoke about the possibility of me playing Ellie and that's really exciting and I would absolutely love it," she told Coming Soon

The "GOT" star said that she would "love to play Ellie" given the opportunity. She, however, reminded fans to not get their hopes up given that there is still no script or director attached to the movie.

"It's still very early days for the whole project, but if it all goes ahead soon enough I think, yeah, I would love to."

The producers may have decided on casting Williams as Ellie, but it was said that they are having second thoughts on who would play the role of Joel.

According to Kpopstarz, the film executives are considering Dylan McDermott, Gerard Butler, and Chris Pratt for the main role.

The outlet added that the studio will begin working on "The Last of Us" movie script after the March 2016 release of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" game on the PlayStation 4.
