Charlotte Hornets coach Steve  Clifford said that rookie Frank Kaminsky needs to get stronger as he often gets pushed off his lane to the rim.

Clifford said that while Kaminsky is so good off the dribble that he would beat defenders, he pointed out that getting outmuscled in college was the reason why he was taking 8-to-10 footers when he gets to the basket.

He has high hopes for Kaminsky, whom they selected ninth overall during the 2015 NBA Draft, who he describes as a quick learner and a good worker and expects him to pick things up quickly on both ends of the floor.

Clifford took time to observe his Kaminsky and fellow rookie Aaron Harrison at NBA assistant Tim Grgurich's summer camp and observed that Kaminsky shot the ball well and  looked quicker and fresher.

According to Sporting News, the Hornets' decision to snag Kaminsky was controversial since Justise Winslow was still available and the Celtics were reportedly offering six picks to move up.

However, the Hornets feel that they had the opportunity to select the ideal prospect for their system in Kaminsky, and didn't find it necessary to get the best player available or even trade back.

The Hornets are still figuring out how Kaminsky and their other big men fit together in an effort to maintain the rebounding mentality they've had for two years.

Hornets coach Steve Clifford  noted that they have to get back to balanced play and added that chemistry is critical, the Charlotte Observer reported.

This is why they have been watching a lot of film in the offseason to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their big men.

He noted that power forward Cody Zeller was doing a good job with his rehab from shoulder surgery and has been on the floor for the last seven weeks, doing a lot of shooting.

Zeller also gained back the weight he lost with the injury.

Center Al Jefferson is on target with his weight loss efforts and has been working out with  strength and conditioning coach Matt Friia.
