Three Republicans on Sunday clashed on immigration issues during a televised debate to get their party's nomination as state senator.

Lieutenant Gov. Mead Treadwell and ex-Alaska Atty. Gen. Dan Sullivan were not in favor of Joe Miller's proposal to condemn any illegal immigrants in Alaska.

Treadwell reprimanded Miller for sending several leaflets to the immigration which features a Spanish mob leader. In return, Miller chastised Sullivan for supporting the citizenship of over 11 million immigrants in the country.

Miller is an attorney who won the Republican vote for Senate in 2010 but lost to Lisa Murkowski during the general elections. He has been a strong proponent of anti-immigrants and has been noting the support of Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a popular immigration disciplinarian.

Out of the three Republican candidates, Miller is the only one who is not willing to endorse whomever will be chosen among them, which draws speculation that should he lose the primary elections, he will run under a third party.

The candidates also tackled the issues of gun rights, economic problems and campaign expenditures.

Sullivan has a solid backing in his Political Action Committee (PAC) which enabled him to raise four times as much campaign money as Treadwell. This allows him airtime and exposure in all major media outlets.

Incumbent Democrat Sen. Mark Begich also has a strong PAC that looks at the weak points of other candidates and attacks it.

During the debate, Sullivan pointed out that there's a lot more work to be done to set the country back on the right tack and the first thing that can be done is to beat Begich.

Treadwell, on the other hand, noted the fact that he has been serving in Alaska for 40 years and that Sullivan will still need more experience to alleviate the condition of the state.
