Buffalo Bills' coach Rex Ryan on Monday chose Tyrod Taylor over EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel to be their starting quarterback beginning Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Taylor completed 24 of 31 passes for 236 yards in the preseason and was praised by Ryan for his explosiveness and being on the top on what they're doing all the time.

Ryan added that Taylor's accomplishments as a runner is  pretty obvious having more rushing yards than Michael Vick at Virginia Tech, but was brought in because he knows how to grasp their brand new offense, and his ability to throw the ball.

Ryan had previously announced that he would not name a starter during the preseason.

However, the coach said he doesn't want their players to get pestered with questions about who's getting reps by ending the speculation so they could move forward, reports ESPN.

Meanwhile, Manuel said he has no regrets after being able to show what he's supposed to.

According to The Buffalo News, Manuel found solace on the fact that he's still on the team "thus far" and intends to continue working and to just see how things develop.

He said it's not the end of the road for him and many things may still happen.

Manuel also thinks he'll remain with the Bills after the team cuts down it's roster to just 53-strong this week.

Ryan did not disclose whether he will use Manuel or Cassel as the primary backup to Taylor but maintained he intends to keep all three on the roster.

Already entering his fifth NFL season, Taylor is yet to start a game professionally.

His last start was in January 2011 as a senior at Virginia Tech in January 2011.

Taylor inked a three-year deal with the Bills in March, with an $833,333 cap this season but can earn him up to $2 million in incentives.
