The final episode of "Scream" Season 1 will pay homage to the legendary horror director Wes Craven who succumbed to his battle against brain cancer at the age of 76.

A spokesperson from MTV told The Hollywood Reporter that the cast and crew of the TV version of "Scream" have prepared a tribute for Craven which will be shown in season one's final episode. The late horror master was credited as executive producer of the series. Yet in an interview in April, Craven said he only allowed MTV to use his name in conjunction with "Scream" TV series they were making, but he clarified it was his only involvement in the show.

It was noted by Movieweb, that Craven's masterful work on "Scream" brought back interest and following for the horror genre in the 90s. Many actors who were part of the original "Scream" movies shared their fondest memories of the director via social media. Courtney Cox called Craven "a friend and mentor" while Rose McGowan said he was one the smartest and kindest man she has ever known. Neve Campbell, who was part of all four "Scream" movies, issued a statement.

"We lost a great deal of magic yesterday. I'm devastated to hear of Wes's passing. My life wouldn't be what it is without him. I will be forever grateful for his brilliant direction, his wicked sense of humor and his consummate kindness and friendship. He has entertained us all for decades and inspired so many to follow in his path. I loved Wes dearly and will miss him always. Thank you Wes!!!"

In a post by eonline, it was revealed that the "Scream" TV series tribute to Craven came at the start of the season finale when the killer was finally uncovered. It was a fitting honor for the master of horror.
