'Luke Cage' News: 'House of Cards Actor; Mahersala Ali Casted As Cottonmouth

New cast, new roles, new responsibilities. This is what awaits the "House of Cards" actor Mahershala Ali upon being casted as Cottonmouth in "Luke Cage."

As the new show gears up for its release, more speculations have reached the air of the online world. Based on a report by Entertainment Weekly, "In the world of Netflix and Marvel's "Luke Cage", Stokes owns a nightclub in Harlem and his illegal operation will bring trouble to Cage's world".

The upcoming series will bring more queries for its fans and followers alike. It appears that Marvel comics universe actually has two Cottonmouths. Entertainment Weekly reported that one named Burchell Clemens, is commonly associated with heroes like Captain America, and the other is Cornell Cottonmouth, known for his super strength and sharp teeth. who is more intrinsically connected to Cage's story in the comics.

Ali is not new to NetFlix thus his adjustment period will be easier. Digital Spy posted that, "Marvel television boss Jeph Loeb described Ali as an actor with "extraordinary range and gravitas". Looking back at history, Cottonmouth has been known as Luke Cage's most infamous rogues in the Marvel Comic universe, dating back to the year 1974.

Aside from his recurring role in "House of Cards", Ali also plays Boggs in the "Hunger Games" movies and starred in "Treme". To further aid the show, it appears that "Daredevil" star Rosario Dawson is reenacting her role as the night nurse Claire Temple to offer Cage a helping hand. The badass cop Misty Knight is also rumored to offer back-up. Other latest casting for Luke Cage comprises of Alfre Woodard as a politician named named Minetta, "Sons of Anarchy's" Theo Rossi and much more. Ign revealed that Marvel's Luke Cage is set to premiere in 2016 on Netflix.

More thrilling moments will be expected of this new series. A new wave of change as Marvel unveils another of its heroes to the world.
