Newly acquired Houston Rockets starting point guard Ty Lawson said he's the missing piece for his team to reach the NBA Finals.

Lawson said that before he was traded by the Denver Nuggets, he got a chat with Rockets star James Harden and told the latter to get him "over there"  as he'll be "that piece to get over the hump," according to ESPN.

Lawson, also said that he's excited to play for the Rockets as it places him in a situation where he has a chance to win  the championship.

According to a CBS Sports report, Lawson sid he was watching the Rockets in recent playoffs and felt they needed another playmaker as Harden visibly got tired.

In fact, Harden turned the ball over dozen times in Game 5 of their series against eventual champions the Golden State Warriors, which they lost by 35 points.

While the Warriors defense should they full credit for their success, it was apparent that Harden needed an extra hand--a role that could be filled by Lawson.

Of course, there are matters that the Rockets need to figure out when Harden and Lawson are on the court together--such as who should beruning their pick-and-rolls.

The Rockets ended up dealing backup players to the Nuggets to get Lawson.

On the other hand, Lawson agreed to have the final year of his contract in 2016-17 season a non-guaranteed one, which is worth $13.2 million.

The 5-11 guard added that it meant so much that coach Kevin McHale and Harden believe so much in his game.

Lawson completed 30 days in an alcohol rehabilitation facility last month after being arrested twice on suspicion of drunken driving in Denver and Los Angeles.

He is still a subject of possible discipline from the NBA, which could amount to a suspension or fine.
A final decision could be made upon resolution of court cases.
