Singer-songwriter Pharell Williams has teamed up with one of the world's most anticipated video games, "NBA 2K15". Williams serves as the curator of the game's soundtrack.

"NBA 2K15" is scheduled to be released on October 7.

The "Happy" singer and original member of "Neptunes" has selected 27 tracks for the new game, sharing that he made sure that the songs added to the game were an "eclectic mix". Included in the tracks are three of the Williams' songs, namely,"Hunter," ''Can I Have It Like That" and "How Does It Feel?"

Other artists that have contributed to this year's soundtrack include Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, One Republic, Snoop Dogg, The Strokes, Lorde, Depeche Mode, A Tribe Called Quest and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

"The eclectic mix makes for a really cool vibe," Williams shared.

One of the main reasons the singer was chosen to curate the soundtrack was that 2K execs were extremely impressed with Williams' performance in this year's NBA All-Star Games. The singer performed alongside Snopp Dogg, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Nelly.

Williams has had a great 2014, finding success with his second solo album "GIRL", winning a Grammy for "Producer of the Year", garnering an Oscar nomination for his song "Happy" for the movie "Despicable Me 2" and, receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Alfrie Brody, vice president of marketing for the video game, stated, "Pharrell's creative energy and background with the NBA...was part of our decision in partnering with him to shape a new entertainment experience in this year's title."

This is not the first time that a musical icon has chosen songs for one of the world's bestselling game series. In 2012, Jay Z served as executive producer of the game's soundtrack.

Last year, Lebron James was tasked with selecting the songs for the game. Last year's instalment of the NBA video game sold more than 7 million copies.
