British singer Robbie Williams is very much alive, but following the death of esteemed actor Robin Williams, some users took to Twitter to mistakenly honor the former "Take That" member.

One Twitter user posted, "I loved you in Take That and Angels was my favourite song", while another wrote, "I can't belive that #RobbieWilliams Is #gone. It feels in our hearts & spirits we will remember him with laughter and love!"

Even Real Madrid player Sergio Ramos followed suit, writing "Dismayed at the death of Robbie Williams. I always liked his songs."

Both #RobinWilliams, #RIPRobinWilliams were trending topics in Twittersphere, as well as #RobbieWilliams because of the mistake.

Oddly enough, some Twitter users also mistakenly thought that it was Robin Van Persie, a Dutch soccer player, who had died. Van Persie is still alive as well.

Williams was found dead in his home from an apparent suicide. He was 63.

The larger-than-life Academy Award winner was pronounced dead on Monday and preliminary investigations revealed that the actor had died of asphyxia. He had cuts on his wrists as well, which suggested that Williams tried to slash his wrist first before deciding to hang himself.

Williams didn't leave a suicide note.

Susan Schneider, Williams' wife, shared he sorrow and heartbreak, saying, "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings."

Schneider requests for privacy during the family's moment of grief. She also hopes that people focus on the joy and laughter the actor had brought to to so many instead of how he died.

Williams has been struggling with his demons and a severe depression as of late and, had only recently left rehab.

The actor is remembered for his roles in films such as "Dead Poets Society", "Good Will Hunting" and "Mrs. Doubtfire".
