The stage is being set for the biggest battle in movie history as Godzilla and King Kong will face off each other according to Deadline.

Legendary Pictures is reportedly moving the "Kong: Skull Island" movie by Thomas Tull to Warner Bros. to tie it with the Godzilla franchise also owned by Legendary.

The studio is pulling off a Marvel Universe technique, but this time in monstrous proportions. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the blueprint for a lot of studios as we are currently seeing DC do the same and the Transformers franchise follow suit.

The fight of the century will happen after the "Godzilla" sequel gets released in 2018. As soon as all the pieces fall into place, Legendary will continue creating its own monster universe.

Writer Mike Flemming Jr of Deadline reported, "I'm told this is happening very quickly with moves going all the way to Japan, where Godzilla rights holder Toho is based. Legendary, which moved from Warner Bros to Universal, had developed the Skull Island film at the latter studio."

"It is unclear at the moment what Universal's position will be, but I heard the studio move is being done because it is just easier to have all the pieces under one roof, something that Marvel Studios has done with superheroes like The Hulk. King Kong is in the public domain, while Legendary got the Godzilla rights from Toho," he added.

The iconic ginormous monsters have already battled before back in 1962 in "King Kong vs. Godzilla" when the actors were still wearing rubber suits.

Fans can only imagine how awesome it will be to watch it now in IMAX 3D with the help of advanced special effects.

"Kong: Skull Island" will hit theaters on March 10, 2017, while "Godzilla 2" will debut in the big screen on June 8, 2018.

After that, the filming for the biggest fight in monster history will begin.
