The animated movie "Minions" slams box office in China over the weekend on its opening day alone, on Sep. 13, Sunday.

It is estimated that the popular animated movie got 20.1 million U.S. dollars. It results to the box office total of $1.08 billion worldwide, which is simply amazing.

In addition, this makes "Minions" the 15th biggest film ever that transcends officially the "Toy Story 3" as the second-highest grossing animated movie of all time. The current holder for the biggest animated film ever is Disney's "Frozen," which garnered 1.27 billion U.S. dollars worldwide. The latter animation film did have a great and unique story after all, which is very different from the other usual Disney Princesses'.

According to Entertainment Weekly, after the debut of "Minions" in July, it has earned $115.7 million domestically compared to "Shrek the Third" with $121.6 million. Until this day, "Minions" has made more than $331 million domestically. Well, that is because of... bananas!

The other competition of "Minions" during its opening in China is "Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation" with $13.8 million. Perhaps the tour that the actor, Tom Cruise, did a three city tour, plus the two months of marketing by Alibaba Pictures Group as well as ticket pre-sales at Alibaba's T-Mall were the reason that the latest "Mission Impossible" garnered such score.

On the third spot is "The Dead End," which is a Chinese crime story with only $4.86 million. This is according to the report by Variety. Other competitors are "Terminator Genisys" with $4.13 million and "Monster Hunt" with the modest of $2.80 million.

Altogether, Universal Studio has set a record of having the highest-grossing year with its other movie releases and box offices. The studio releases this year are "Fifty Shades Of Grey," "Jurassic World," "Furious 7," "Straight Outta Compton," and "Pitch Perfect 2."
