Los Angeles Clippers head coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers is now expected to discuss contract extension with the new management under Steve Ballmer.

A California court released a written order confirming the authority of Shelly Sterling to initiate the selling of the NBA franchise on behalf of her husband, Donald Sterling. The billionaire's racist remarks led to his eviction by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Doc Rivers acted as the voice of the Clippers organization when Sterling was thrown out due to the controversy.

Recent reports stated that Rivers would step down from his duties had Donald Sterling stayed as the owner of the Clippers. With Steve Ballmer in charge, there is no doubt that the 52-year-old coach is now willing to continue his services with the organization.

Both Ballmer and Rivers have been very open to a long-term partnership. Ballmer's presence can definitely improve Rivers' standing as well as his salary. Rivers is already acknowledged as one of the highest-paid coaches and executives in professional sports. With two years left on his three-year, $21 million deal, the Clippers front office is determined to invest in Doc's vision of success.

"The topic of conversation with Doc earlier was to focus in on what does it take and how can I help support him in achieving our mutual mission and in a pretty intense way continue to improve, be tenacious," Ballmer stated in an interview with The Boston Globe on Tuesday.  "If we do all that, good things will come our way."

Rivers coached the Boston Celtics to reach their 17th championship title in 2008 and reached the NBA Finals again in 2010. He became a very important part of the latest improvement of the Clippers team leading them to a 57-25 regular season standing and a Western Conference semifinals appearance.
