Chinese President Xi Jinping's Visit To U.S. Seeks To Address Issues On Cyberspace Through Collaboration

President Xi Jinping of China expressed that China wants to help address cybercrime issues. He further added that Beijing supports the building of a peaceful and secure cyber space.

A China-U.S. internet forum was held at the Microsoft Headquarters in Redmond, Washington. In the said forum, Xi stated that along with the speedy development of information technology, they have found that the Internet now plays a crucial role in peace and mutual development among the countries around the world.

Since China and the U.S. are among the major countries in the internet, they have come up with an agreement to cooperate and hold talks to address cyber issues based on the concepts of mutual respect and trust, Xinhuanet reported.

Xi added that with this cooperation, the cyberspace will then be able to provide these two countries with more benefits.

Xi gave his word on their willingness to help keep the cyber space peaceful shortly after he and Barack Obama, the president of the Unites States of America, signed a mutual agreement on renewable energy and the use of clean technology in their fight against climate change, the US News reports.

He further added that China has been constantly putting efforts to defend cyber security; however, they have also been a victim of hacking as well.

Xi arrived in Seattle to talk on how the U.S. and Chinese experts and businesses can collaborate in the use of nuclear energy and electricity use, a year after both leaders announced their cooperation in the battle against climate change.

Brian Young, Washington State director of the sector economic development and clean technology, said that being the largest economies in the world therefore the highest emitters of greenhouse gas, China and the U.S. have to make a joint effort against it.

On top of this, the cooperation can also bring a business opportunities, providing job opportunities.

All five governors, including Snyder; Jay Inslee, Washington; Jerry Brown, California; Terry Branstad, Iowa; and Kate Brown, Oregon, who met with Xi in Seattle along with Gov. Brian Sandoval, who was not able to attend the meeting, signed an agreement to further strengthen the actions taken to reduce emissions from transportations, support clean energy technologies and exchange ideas on how to fight climate change in general.
