Hollywood, United States

While Hollywood and the rest of the United States continue to remember the work and inspiration of Robin Williams, another Hollywood icon has passed away from a stroke. Though she was older than Williams at age 89, actress Lauren Bacall, has caused a great reaction among many celebrities in the film industry.

Bacall had been known not only as a veteran of the Hollywood industry, but as a true star of her time. This is what resonates with many celebrities who have released statements honoring the life and career of Bacall.

Celebrities who have been reacting the most have not only been stars in the Hollywood industry, but classic icons who have worked, loved, and looked up to Bacall. One such icon was none other than Hollywood icon, Barbara Streisand.

Streisand and Bacall had first worked together in the 1996 film, The Mirror Has Two Faces, where Streisand played Bacall's on-screen daughter. In a public statement, Streisand admitted that it was difficult to lose two Hollywood greats--Williams and Bacall--in such a short time.

Additionally, Streisand admitted that she felt privileged to have been able to work alongside Bacall and the friendship that resulted between the two.

Also speaking of Bacall with great love and honor was Hollywood star and humanitarian, Mia Farrow--who had married Frank Sinatra after he had been in a relationship with Bacall. In her emotional remembrance to Bacall, Farrow tweeted, "Now we've lost the great Lauren Bacall. RIP dear Betty"--referring to Bacall's birth name, Betty Joan Perske.

As a tribute to the actress's words of inspiration, the Academy had tweeted Bacall's own quote: "Imagination is the highest kite in the sky".

In a similar fashion, Seth MacFarlane's emotional tweet referenced one of Bacall's most iconic roles in To Have and Have Not. "Thank you, Lauren, for teaching us all how to whistle. You will be missed, but more than that, you will be celebrated."

And, as Hollywood continues to honor both icons, words could not be truer.
