While the Williams family has received much support and respect from both Hollywood and the outside world, they are now faced with a new threat. The notorious Westboro Baptist Church has threatened the Williams family with plans to disrupt Robin Williams' funeral with a protest.

The Westboro Baptist Church, a hateful, homophobic, and exclusive church (unrelated to the Baptist Church) is known for its extreme ideologies and is made up by roughly 40 members. Based in Topeka, Kansas, the group began giving hateful, anti-gay demonstrations at funerals since 1991.

The Church is known for attending funerals of military personnel, celebrities, and public organizations in order to conduct their hateful protests. Many of these protests include bold signs with slogans using crude slurs to address gay people.

In addition to their slogans, Westboro Baptist Church members often shout hateful phrases at their victims, screaming messages such as "God hates America" or "God bless dead soldiers". Other times, the group has been known to carry out degrading acts, such as stomping on the American flag.

Now that the church has decided to put their focus on the recent death of Robin Williams, their Twitter page has been posting the hash tag "#NoObedienceNoPeace" and "#MustPicketFuneral". The messages began to appear on Tuesday and centered on attacking Williams over his personal life and his cause of death (suicide).

One tweet featured a picture of Williams' face in flames with the message "Robin in hell" underneath. Another read that Williams "decided to use his considerable talent to push filthy life styles, flagrant debauchery, and hedonism".

In addition to the messages, the church began reaching out to others on Twitter, demanding to know the date and place of the memorial service that will be held for Williams. While the memorial service does not yet have an official date, the church did respond to a picture of sympathy flowers that had been placed outside of Williams' former San Francisco home.

"Great place for a relevant and meaningful picket!" the church had responded.

The schedule posted official Westboro Baptist Chruch website was unavailable early Wednesday morning due to technical difficulties, but many Twitter users have been responding to the church's messages with great negativity, pointing out the church's insensitivity.

However, the church's threat still persists.
